Start the upgrade with an assessment
To optimize planning and clearly communicate scope details and technical requirements for upgrades, partners can provide their customers a complete overview of what is required to upgrade to Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 or Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009. This article highlights some of the benefits Microsoft Dynamics partners, Tribridge and ePartners, experienced using Celenia Upgrade Assessment.
Tribridge saved a substantial amount of time
One of Tribridge’s customers decided to upgrade from Microsoft Dynamics NAV 3.7 to the latest version. The customer was especially concerned about the need to make changes to the existing modifications in present version. “At the beginning of the engagement, Celenia worked with our technical project managers to explain and document exactly what was rewritten,” says Brent Fisher, Technical Architect at Tribridge in Florida, USA. “Without consulting with Celenia on this, we probably wouldn’t have known about the impact of the code changes as early on in the process as we did. The consultants’ assessment was critical to helping our team take a better path, which saved our team and our client a substantial amount of time.”
ePartners assisted by Celenia
A client of ePartners was contemplating upgrading a portion of its business units from Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 to the latest version. “Celenia played a role in helping us create a long-term roadmap for our client so they could gain a clearer picture of the feasibility and practical considerations of upgrading groups of business units in separate phases,” says Ian Kingstone, Services Director for ePartners in the United Kingdom.
Code cut to the bone
Not only does the partner and the end customer get a complete overview of the upgrade requirements, they also get the chance to cut the codes to the bone. Tribridge cites an example: “Because of the analysis that Celenia performed, we could immediately eliminate 80 percent of the custom code in the existing system at one of our customers, so that the upgraded solution would be more cost effective to maintain,” says Brent Fisher, Technical Architect at Tribridge.
